10. See the 12 Apostles, Victoria


These mountains are some of Australia’s most interesting geologic formations. Although there’s now only eight due to the collapse of one of the stacks, the name still holds significance to the citizens of Australia. Tourists can get a relaxing beach day in and walk along the sand to view these towering rocks.

9. Margaret River Caves


Margaret River is home to the most stunning caves in all of Australia. Here tourists can explore three spectacular caves full of beautiful rocky formations, stalagmites and stalactites. Make sure you are willing to take longs walks, climb over rocks, and crawl through tight spaces on this excursion. These caves are a site not to be missed.

8. The Pink Lake at Lake Hiller


No this is not from Candy Land, it’s just one of Australia’s most mysterious wonders. Lake Hiller is a salt lake, and its pink color derives from the algae levels in the water. It also makes for a great swimming spot and is without a doubt one of the most unique places in the world.

7. Finder Chase Park, Kangaroo Island


This park off the shores of Southern Australia is one of the best places for observing Australian wildlife. Visitors will be sure to see wallabies, sea lions, dolphins, emu, koalas, and you guessed it, kangaroos. You can also take a guided nocturnal tour where if you’re lucky you’ll be able to see cute penguins.

6. Wallaman Falls


Located in Girringun National Park, you can take a visit to see Australia’s tallest waterfall at 879 feet. The geological history of this waterfall can be traced back to 50 million years ago. It’s grown more beautiful with age and will hopefully stay for another 50 million years.

5. Grampians National Park


This park has some outstanding rock formations, which after hiking to the top provide breathtaking view of the forests below. Tourists can stand at the edge of the world on the balconies (formerly known as the “Jaws of Death”) where you can walk on a narrow ledge that makes the climb all worth it.

4. Lord Howe Island


Right between Australia and New Zealand, this island is one of the most beautiful sanctuaries in the world. The crystal blue waters, white sandy beaches and top tier resorts make Lorde Howe Island a very romantic and secret getaway.

3. Uluru


Also known as Ayers rock, Uluru is one of Australia’s most iconic sites. Standing at over 1,100 feet tall and 2 miles long, tourists have been hiking and climbing this rock for years. It’s known to change colors throughout the day due to the reflection of the sunlight and occasionally lucky tourists can catch a glimpse of the waterfalls running down the rock. Whether your view is from above or below, the setting makes for some incredible photos (as seen below).

2. Great Barrier Reef


Sharks, stingrays, crocodiles, whales, turtles, this place has it all. Home to over 1,500 species of fish the Great Barrier Reef is surely one of the best places to scuba dive in the world. With crystal blue waters and vibrant marine life the reef hosts over 1.6 million tourists per-year.

1. Sydney Harbour and City

No surprise here. The Sydney Harbour is our favorite place in Australia because of its plethora of activities. Around Sydney Harbour you can visit the Sydney Opera House, walk on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, walk around Bondi Beach or enjoy the scenery at Darling Harbour. With lots of shops and sights to see,  Sydney is a must visit on your trip to Australia.
