City tour to the oldest part of Paris which reveals centuries of history and art in the heart of the capital. The guide will comment the history of the monuments and quarters you will drive past such as Marais District, Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain des Prés. Enjoy a short cruise to reach the Cité Island where you will have a guided visit of Paris Notre Dame Cathedral, gothic masterpiece built in the XIIth century.
Free time for lunch. Ride up to Montmartre by coach and funicular, guided walking tour of the village and Place du Tertre where many painters chose to live such as Renoir or Van Gogh. Visit the romanesque Sacred Heart basilica on your own and admire its byzantine architecture. Come back to the heart of Paris, passing by Opera district & department stores. One hour guided visit of the Louvre museum to discover the main works like the Venus of Milo, the Coronation of The Emperor Napoléon I and Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
Claude Monet lived at Giverny from 1883 until his death in 1926. In the surroundings of his home, Monet created the famous flower and water garden with its Japanese bridge, which became his main source of inspiration. The tour will start with a visit to Monet’s house to see his furnishings and collection of Japanese engravings. Naturally, the visit would not be complete without a lovely walk around the famous water lily gardens. In contrast, Versailles presents the grandeur of classical French architecture. The extravagant decoration and layout of the entire site reflects the character of King Louis XIV, the Sun King. Lunch is included today.
